Remix The Classic it’s the Manifesto
of the Digital Classic.
Thousands of spheres runs around the perimeter
of the building creates the suggestion of
an old fiesta from the ’50.
The language of Remix the Classic, through
the technology of the mapping video, recreate
the emotions of historical building remixing
old forms into new images.

Digital Faces - Miss Digital

Digital Faces it's my new digital installation and it's exposed at
the Museo della Scienza of Napoli until the end of january.
The theme pf Digital Faces is the intersection between beauty and identity,
digital beauty and digital identity; on second life I found
an incredible platform where thousands of human experiments it.
The idea of beauty on second life comes from the classic idea
of beauty, the idea of beauty that we find in the Metamorphosis
of Ovidio: the actors of Second Life are half human and
half animals, can wear wings, can be transformed into fire.
What is the classic ideal of beauty?
Salvatore Settis says that the "Classic" is the reinterpretation of
the classic, let's say, with a contemporary words, the remix.
So, on second life, on virtual wordls in general, we assist
to remixes of the old idea of beauty, remixes that most of the
times surprise for the interesting results.
My works Digital Faces are an investigation through Second Life
on the remix of classic beauty in the digital worlds.

Bagnoli Il Futuro

Bagnoli Il Futuro has been realized for the Italian Foundation Fondazione Idis-Città della Scienza.
The video it's about the urban development of Bagnoli, the west area of Napoli.
The video is 13 minutes long and is part 3d and part shooted in Bagnoli.
The language I used is the picture in picture and the animation of phrases.

Light Your Blue

Light your blue is the new installation by Franz Cerami,
that has been presented for the first time at Naples during
the event Monumedia Light & Vision.
The installation has been placed on the cliff in front
of Castel dell’Ovo, in Naples, from the 21th untill the 25th
of october 2009.
The shade Of blue of the installation has been determined
everyday by the choice made by users
of the site www.lightyourblue.com.
Blue is the colour of the sea, the colour of the sky, the colour
of soul.  Everyone has his own blue.  
Light Your Blue intercepts these emotions, these pictures,
making everyone participate with his own blue
to create a collective blue, a global blue.
The application permits the lighting system to work
in total automation,without the intervention of an human operator.
The system is based on a Apple Macintosh computer
with a custom software created specifically for this installation.
The software switches on the computer at 9.00pm, providing
also to turn on the light system with a power interface.
Next, the "Light Your Blue" site is contacted through
the Internet retrieving the selected tone of blue,
and this value is transmitted to a light console
through a Ethernet link.
The console reads the value and calls one of several light
scenes programmed in its memory, one for every tone of blue.
At last, at 11.00pm, the software switches off the computer
and the light system.
Derrick de Kerkhove said, in connection with Light Your Blue,
that is a collective and interactive art work, a global art work.
This is not to illuminate an object, but to evoke its meaning,
to communicate with this object.

Monumedia Borgo Light & Vision 2009

After the 1997 to 1999 success, within the "Creativity Journey ,"

(project of the Region of Campania Tourist Department), the
Monumedia Festival returns, the event which, since its creation,
proposed to valorize cultural and historical sites in Naples,
assembling digital innovation, design and Cultural Heritage.
Monumedia is the annual appointment with the multimedia
production concerning Art and Culture, which seeks to combine
Digital Innovation, Design and Cultural Heritage.
The festival is animated by the use of lights and moving images
applied to cultural heritage through installations, interactive light gardens ,
projections of three-dimensional images on “Castel dell'Ovo”,
light installations created by Internet, lunar atmospheres
inspired by lightning revisiting of satellite dishes.
The 2009 edition of the Festival Monumedia - Borgo Light & Vision
intends to propose a rereading of “Castel dell'Ovo” and the
whole “Borgo Marinari a Santa Lucia”; this place is from
centuries a symbol of Naples and Monumedia wants
to come back with a vision enhancing the beauty and uniqueness.
Protagonists of the entire event will be the technology,
light projections and wall digital images, real three-dimensional
sculptures, beautiful architecture in motion.
The event, bring held from October 20th to November 6th,
is promoted by the “Regional Direction of the Minister of
Cultural Heritage”and realized with the partnership of the
Consortium “Antico Borgo Marinari” . The art director will
be Franz Cerami – Digital Artist – who is the ideator as well.
For this edition of “Borgo Screen”, there will be three artworks of
Video Mapping realized by Giorgio Rinolfi – Digital Artist
(October 22nd), by Franz Cerami (October 23rd) and by
Till Nowak – Digital Artist (October 25th), also visible
from a distance between 9 pm and 11 pm : old charms of history
and legend will be blended with bright and engaging
dialogues on the artist’s lit masterpieces.

Gac Caserta Digital Storytelling on Cultural Heritage

The Gac caserta project was created by the Regione Campania
to promote the cultural heritage of the area of Caserta:
I worked creating 3 digital story in collaboration with the schools
of Caserta, Casagiove and Maddaloni.
The work was based on the idea that the cultural heritage
is a vehicle of cultural identity: we worked with the students
of these 3 schools to discuss about it, to give them the possibility
to discover their cultural heritage and finally their identity
as a community.
They filmed with us their monuments, streets, museum;
we talked about what kind of identity they thought
the area should promote.
This video is the first of 3 digital story that I have done
in the area of Caserta, Casagiove and Maddaloni for
the Regional County Council of Campania.
The all work is about how digital storytelling can promote the cultural identity of the area of Caserta

Some Like her Digital - The Miss Digital Calendar

In 2007 I created The Miss Digital Calendar, named
Some Like Her Digital.
Kaya, Mi, Tasha, Judith Pixelle, Kyra and many others:
these are the twelve digital models, designed and realized
using 3d modeling design techniques, that are going to stay
with us all along 2007 on the Miss Digital The
Calendar 2007 – Some like her Digital.
Miss Digital World The Calendar 2007, is the first calendar
in the world featuring 3d models: a design product of the
highest graphic quality, realized in B/W and toned in
azure blue, it associates to each month/model,
12 quotations by famous authors, all referring to
the common theme of beauty.By Fedor Dostoevskij: beauty saves the world!
and Albert Camus: Beauty, no doubt, does not make revolutions.
But a day will come when revolutions will have need of beauty.
And by great movie stars like Debbie Reynolds:
What do you have to be so conceited about?
You're nothing but a shadow on film... just a shadow.
You're not flesh and blood.
The World of Fashion is ready to welcome the virtual models:
Santo Versace explains that:“ we can see in many films the use
of CGI in the right amount and with a clever perspective,
in animated films it is considered normal the use of the most
up to date technology available, and we can see it in fashion shows too.
To see it realized in a calendar seems to me as a logical and
natural creative and technological development.
So greetings to Miss Digital World, and keep up the good work”.

Digital Ports

Digital Ports is a digital map shared by contemporary Flaneur of the Mediterranean.

I presented the project Friday 12 of December at the Mav of Ercolano, Italy,
during the Event Arte Globale created by the Professor Derrick de Kerckhove.
The idea of Digital Ports is to develop Maps of Barcellona, Napoli and Nizza
starting from the personal identities and feeling of the tourists.
They will portraits themselves in a green box and after will post their pictures
and their feelings of the town.
Digital Ports is a place to share Maps, to feel Maps, to tell Maps.
Each person, rappresent the place that he visited.

White Airports

White Airports is my new digital installation.
Two screen, on the left and right side of the room,
projects images of different airports: Rio de Janeiro,
Napoli, Athens, Paris.
White Airports in a white room.
In the central screen are projected frases that I wrote
about the body and its relations with the space:
the white space of the airport, the empty space of a hall
in the Rio the Janeiro Airport, a cafe in Paris,
a waitinbg list room in Athens.
Alla the ambient is sourrounded by digital sounds
token from these airports and remixed.

Napoli Remix documentary to promote Napoli

I directed this promotional short documentary for
the City of Napoli.
The language I use is called picture in picture and
consist in divide the screen in smaller boxes where
different contents are shown at the same time.
The client presents the documentary in London
to some journalist and the feedback was very good;
I think the red neapolitan wine and the mozzarella
had some influence on their positive comments on the documentary.
The documentary is part of a Campaign that
I directed to promote the City of Napoli in London.
How to comunicate Napoli in London?
What exactly good Londoners find interesting in Napoli?
There are some point in common, two to be more precise: music and fine arts.
We all have a long story in music and fine arts.
And Napoli has beeen always crossed by new cultures
and ahs always remixed these cultures.
That could be interesting.
Remix is one of the most interesting contemporary concept.
Perfect.
I started from the idea of Remix.
We asked to young designers and young dj's to remix
the two most imortant icons of Napoli: the Vesuvio and the song O' sole mio.
I designed the logo of the Campaign and prepared
the 2 competition: Napoli Music Remix and Napoli Vesuvio Remix.
The video has been made to promote the all idea
of Napoli has a contemporary and open palce to visit and stay.
A creative town.
A town so creative ad open to decide to let some
english creative to remix it's own identity.

Moving Architectures

Moving Architectures in a Digital installation that I created for the
Regional Neapolitan Council.
It's about the local transportation system and the station realizaed
by international architects in Napoli.
The installation has been presented the first tine at the Annali della
Architettura in Napoli
The multimedia installation consist of 3 video wall projection in a dark room.
This is one of the three videos.
The music was elaborated by the musician Paolo Pagnani.

Metropolis Portraits

Metropolis Portraits it's a new kind of portrait that

I started in 2007 in this huge club out of Napoli, the Metropolis.
I was invited by Mc Massi, dj and art director f the Angels of Love,
to portraits the public of the club: many many different boys and girls,
dressed up in a hot funny beautiful strange kind of fashion.
I couldn't lose this occasion.
I went there with Mara, Gennaro and some others and they installed
a big green screen in the hall of the club: suddenly a lot of people
started to ask and wanted to be portraited.
It was fun.

Miss Digital World

I created Miss Digital World in 2003 as a collaborative international
art project on digital identity and digital beauty.
Miss Digital has been the first contest of digital beauties.
Every age has its ideal of beauty, and every age produces its
visual incarnation of that ideal from the Venus de Milo
in ancient Greece to Marilyn Monroe in the 1960s.
Miss Digital World is the search for the contemporary
ideal of beauty seen through the language of virtual reality.
Many artists from all the world partecipated to the
contest: from Mexico, Chile, Italia, Usa, Iran, China, Brasil,
France, United Kingdom, just to name a few countries.
The first edition, that attracted about 3600 digital artists
from around the world, was won by the chilean Katty Ko,
a digital clone of the real Katty Kowaleczko,
very known in Chile because actress of the south american
soap opera Passion.
